Continuing from the previous conversation...

Here are John's next words. Interact with them. What do we learn, what is he communicating, what questions arise? Throw some thoughts out there.

1 John 1:5-7
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is
light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have
fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not
practicing truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light,
then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,
cleanses us from all sin.

this may be a sunday school answer but the obvious thought that comes to mind is the fact that while we are saved the presence of Jesus in and among us should skew our perception enough to realize what we are doing when we do sin and attempt some mental or physical process of changing our habits or in other words to repent.

I like the imagry of light and dark.

I'm not the judge of things. Thats God's job. But this verse does always make me think of people who have claimed Christianity as their own and yet whose lives remain unchanged by Jesus. You can call yourself Christian all day long but if you do not have a relationship with Jesus whats the point?

I mean, I'm not saying that we need to be perfect. Thats the polar opposite extreme that is equally healthy.

I love John's candor! "If you live in the light, it shows! Relationship with God impact how you live. If you SAY you love God but it does not impact your behavior, well then, you're a liar."
